Incorporating Human-Computer Interaction and social factors in a medical records system

Understanding user requirements is obviously a crucial prerequisite for building the right system, and not merely building the system right. That is why requirements engineering is important for Human-ComputerInteraction (HCI). ARISTOPHANES is a newly implemented medical records system, which has been developed for use in clinical workstations and takes into account varied requirements, user acceptance and future extension. This paper reports on the acceptance of a new medical records system and aims at demonstrating the methods used by the ARISTOPHANES system to cover usability and HCI aspects.
